One of the many songs I wrote while in school and working full time in high crime area as a manager of a rundown 34 unit apartment complex on Browncroft in South Union neighborhood of Houston Texas
I thought I had the correct perspective
Was sure I had it all dissected
And knew where all the parts went
Until I Stumble upon the very heart of it
And saw all those struggles you had to go through
And all those burdens you carried that I never had to
I caught a glimpse of the road you came here by
Noticed how your calluses and scars never lied
And like a detective’s epiphany
I was brought to a terribly wonderful reality
that changed something in myself
and I won’t easily forget just how that felt
This kind of science leaves a sort of aching
Makes me more reliant before praying
Makes me start doing before even saying
Makes me think a little longer before ever complaining
Well you’ve got my full attention
Whatever it is that I can do
I’m here and I'm listening
God knows I’m better now
from knowing you
